A Device for Various Natural Language Processing Activities in Offline Mode with Optional User Interaction

Indian patent application 201931009037 · filed 2019 · Inventors: Koushik Deb, Abhinaba Basu

Problem addressed
Language AI mostly lives in the cloud: without a connection there is no intelligence, and every query leaves the device.
Technical approach
A single device performs text segmentation, topic and subtopic detection, summarisation and query-driven retrieval entirely on-device, accepting text, audio, video or images and returning results in whichever format the user asks for.
Potential applications
Rural and low-connectivity regions, travel, emergency response, and privacy-sensitive work where data must not leave the device.

IoT-Based System for Fire Detection, Management and Efficient Evacuation with Remote-Controlled Bots

Indian patent application 201931053496 · filed 2019 · Inventors: Koushik Deb

Problem addressed
In a building fire, detection is only half the problem — most casualties happen during the evacuation itself.
Technical approach
Temperature sensors, smoke detectors and thermal cameras report to a two-level control hierarchy. On a major fire the main control centre computes the safest route per floor, texts it to occupants and updates it as the fire spreads, while wall-mounted jets and a per-floor robot fight the blaze.
Potential applications
Commercial, government and residential buildings; anywhere static exit signage cannot adapt to where the fire actually is.

Drone-Augmented Pest Control System

Indian patent application 202431013004 · filed 2024 · Inventors: Koushik Deb, Dr. Imon Mukherjee, Souvik Ghoshal, Debkanya Bose

Problem addressed
Pesticides kill pests along with pollinators and soil life, while resistance keeps rising and regulators keep withdrawing compounds.
Technical approach
A drone swarm coordinated by Particle Swarm Optimization patrols farmland; onboard cameras feed a Single Shot Multibox Detector that identifies the pest and judges threat level, and an onboard magnetron neutralises it with targeted electromagnetic pulses.
Potential applications
Smart agriculture and crop protection without chemical residue on the crop, soil or water table.
